My godson, Oliver, got confirmed today at St. Thomas Aquinas. The Bishop had a lot to say during this mass (and before it). He talked about the awfulness going on in Ukraine. He talked about the importance of the sacrament the students were receiving and what it was all about. But what stood out to me was the ending of his homily. He ended with some advice for the 8th graders that I think we can all stand to hear and remember:
Don’t be afraid to be different and uniquely you.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
Don’t be afraid to be brave.
Don’t be afraid to stand up for what you believe in.
Such important lessons! I feel like I try to share one of these daily with my kids with all that the world is throwing at us!

Great advice. This is the church I grew up in and made all my sacraments, including where I got married!
