President’s Day

“Everyone stand up,” Honey announces as we float on our rented pontoon boat by 5 houses with American flags flying.  “It’s President’s Day.  We need to say the pledge.”

All 7 of us stand up, face the flags, put our hands on our hearts and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.  Once we finish we sit back down and Honey leads us in every American song we can think of: Yankee Doodle, You’re a Grand Old Flag, God Bless America.  You name it, we sang it, loud and proud.

As we finish up our singing we are told to stand again.  A collective groan happens.  “Stand!” Honey says again!

We do as we are told.  This time Honey leads us in saying the Hail Mary.  We all giggle as we follow along with the prayer.

“Amen” we all say in unison to end our fantastic President’s Day on the Bay in Florida!
