I am inspired by Dawn’s Post which was inspired by Melanie’s Post who was inspired by Lisa’s Post, here are 31 Things About Me:
- I am a 2nd grade teacher.
- I have also taught 1st grade and 4th grade.
- I swam competitively from 2nd grade all through college. I started my swimming career swimming backstroke mostly, then switched to freestyle and ended it with backstroke.
- For a summer job, I teach swim lessons and love it. It is so fun to see the children build confidence as they get more used to the water. Or as they learn to dive and now can touch the bottom of the deep end.
- I own a house in which my great-grandparents lived a long time ago. My dad and aunts and uncles love to tell me what it used to look like inside. I wish their were pictures.
- I live in a small beach community that is like Pleasantville. Everyone seems to know everyone and help each other out. I’m lucky enough to have a lot of family in this small community too.
- 7 is my favorite number. I’m not sure why but I’ll blame it on my birthday being the 7th of April.
- I love going to my aunts house down the road for dinner. I probably go there once a week so she can try out a new recipe that my uncle and cousin won’t eat because it’s too healthy.
- I have a sister, Tori, who is 8 years younger than me. She keeps me young!
- I have a brother, Brett, who is 4 years younger than me. He keeps me up to date on all things technology.
- My brother, Justin, was 2 years younger than me but he passed away 12 years ago. He taught me so many things: how to be strong, it’s ok to be different, how to be caring, the list can go on and on…
- I love the beach. I can sit there for hours.
- If you’ve read any of my previous slices you might know that I am very close to my extended family. I spend a lot of time with them. The beach (my grandma’s house) is a central location for us to meet in the summer!
- I am not good at binge watching shows like so many of my friends. It takes me awhile to catch up to have conversations with them about favorite shows.
- My favorite show at the moment though is A Million Little Things. If you haven’t watched it you should! But you might want to grab tissues.
- I enjoy reading. I read a lot before bed. I switch back and forth between my kindle and books. There is just something soothing about actually turning pages.
- I am thankful my friend, Jess, lets me share her audiobooks so I can “read” even more.
- I am sorry to say I am not an animal lover. The only pet I’ve ever had was a fish. My brother and sister had hermit crabs for a short amount of time but I stayed away.
- I love to workout. I go to the gym about 6 times a week.
- I am always up for trying new things. It’s taken me awhile but I do try new foods to now.
- I’ve traveled to Australia, Greece, Mexico, and Italy. I don’t think I could pick a favorite.
- While in Australia I held a baby koala…that peed on me. I had to spend the rest of the day with that on my shirt. Oops! Good luck?!
- I’d like to go to Iceland, Alaska, Ireland, and London (to name a few). There are also places in the US I’d like to go too: Nashville, Charleston, Napa.
- I typically drink tea, not coffee. If I do drink coffee it has to be sweet.
- I love to shop at Marshalls. One of my friends is always jealous that I can find clothes there.
- My grandma Charlotte taught me to always look for a bargain. She was a huge “couponer.” I am not that big of checking for coupons but I do love a bargain.
- My grandma Rosie (Nosey Rosie) taught me to be a people watcher. Boy is that a fun activity.
- I get my sarcasm from my dad.
- My mom is my best friend. We have so many similarities, it’s not funny. We constantly say the same things at the same time.
- I make Christmas gifts with my Aunt Donna each year to give out to whoever. Each year we try to top that last. 2018 was one of the best years yet. At first we thought we’d do it again for 2019 because of how great they came out and how easy they were, but now I think Donna is changing her mind. There is still time for persuasion.
- I surprised myself and wrote for 31 days straight in 2018 and plan on doing that again for 2019.
Wow! I made it to 31 but that was tough. At times I felt like I could easily split things into 2 rather than 1, but then is that cheating?
Dawn, Melanie and Lisa,
Thanks for the inspiration
This is great! I feel like you have all 31 March slices right here! I am looking forward to reading the one about the koala! The things that stood out to me were your love of family, travel, and teaching/learning/writing! I feel like I know you better after reading these 31 items.

I felt like I knew a lot of these, but the details gave me new insights. Someone has to have pictures of your house!

Yay You!! You did it! I loved reading your list! I also have a hard time binge watching! We both probably have a hard time with that because we go to the gym/camp six days a week! Thanks for sharing!

A list of 31 tells a lot about you. Exercising six times a week – this is impressive and I bow in front of you.

#11 hit me like a ton of bricks. Everything was beachy and cute, but then reality hit. I’m sorry for the loss of your brother. I cannot imagine what that was like for you and your family.

I almost left that one out because it was so different than the rest. But then decided it’s really a huge part of who I am that needed to be shared.

Probably on of these in my future- this list structure. I did not know all of these things about you but I feel excited to use this understanding to work with you in the future. There is a beautiful combination of kinds of things in this list. Thanks for sharing.

This is great. I like the fact that there’s variety. Not all just the happy stuff. I’d agree that loss is part of what shapes us…even if we don’t want it to define us. The swimming and teaching thing makes me want to talk to you about a job I think you would love. We’ll talk

Can’t wait to hear about it.

Thanks for the share. That house near the beach and family sounds lovely particularly when it comes with such a rich history.
